For over 35 years David Ryan has worked as a commercial/advertising photographer for businesses and corporations throughout New England and New York. His diverse clientele range from Steinway Piano, to Lego Toys, to Mass Mutual. He has photographed everything from nuclear reactors to optics, which are the size of a grain of salt. Whether photographing paper mills, intimate country inns or high technology labs, David has earned a reputation for his ability to control light and transform the ordinary into the extraordinary.
Recognized for his skills, by the advertising industry as well as his peers, he has received numerous awards including the Kodak Gallery Award and the Fuji Masterpiece Award. It is no surprise that his love of photography extends to fine art and landscape photography with his work appearing in numerous publication in North America, Europe and Asia.
We first met David Ryan and his wife during their stay at the Inn two summers ago. He just happened to be here during a photo shoot for our new website and volunteered some advice for some key photos. David was instrumental in helping capture one of our favorite images of an amazing moonrise over Newagen harbor and he also captured an image of two adirondack chairs overlooking the sunset and Atlantic Ocean.
When asked about his adventures and experiences in Maine he had this to say:
Coastal Maine has been a destination to explore my art and unwind from the pressures of life for decades. The farther north I drive, the better I start to feel. I come to relax and rest, but the lure of a misty Maine harbor at sunrise has me out of bed before 1st light.
On our 1st visit to the Newagen Inn, about 2 years ago, my wife and I were transformed. We could feel the stresses of life draining from our bodies. The accommodations were superb, the food was exceptional and the grounds felt like a sanctuary. We were refreshed and invigorated.
