One Day Lobster Sales Top 7000 in Boothbay Harbor

Locals and Maine Lobster-lovers from Bangor to Lewiston lined up as early as 7:30 am for $5.00 Lobsters on Saturday November 8 at the Boothbay High School parking lot for the promotion dubbed, "Lobster Maine-ia". The lobsters were offered either live or cooked and by 9:00 a.m. an estimated 2000 lobsters had already been sold. The Boothbay Register reported that the event was planned to focus attention on the dramatic drop in lobster sales. According to the Register, $10,000 was cleared to be used to promote lobster sales statewide. Of course, those who purchased lobsters enjoyed an all time low price per piece and that makes them taste even better too.
